Sam Thuis – Biography
Hi, I’m Sam Thuis, the founder and CEO of Vigilance.
“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.”
This quote by Walt Disney has been my inspiration to never stop doing what I love, and it keeps me going in life. Born in Zoetermeer, South Holland, on the 12th of February 1998, I’ve always been motivated to bring forth my creativity to the masses, and today, it’s an honor to present you with Vigilance.
It hasn’t been easy. Building a brand from scratch may look effortless from the outside, but that first step and managing the businesses with minimal resources and funding is not an easy task. On top of that, manifesting an idea into a world full of creativity is more than just an effort. However, I’m grateful to those who’ve supported me throughout my entrepreneurial journey and gotten this brand where it is today.
I worked as a postman in The Netherlands in the province of Limburg all way down south in Kerkrade. I was educated to do bookkeeping jobs in the city of Heerlen, but the truth is, I find multiple trades exciting. I can be stubborn when it comes to starting new potential businesses, especially when progress can be made. I find development interesting to investigate.
The journey of Vigilance initiated from just an ordinary idea of offering a service or product to customers. I took entrepreneurship lessons in College, and it made me envision selling hoodies with my own trademark. The name Vigilance was not yet foreseen, but as everything is possible with a good idea, I started brainstorming brand names with a group of friends and fellow students. “What about Vigilant?” asked a classmate of mine. I liked his interest, but I said: ‘no, Vigilance sounds better in my ears,’ and that’s where it all began.
All the merchandise available on the webshop today is my creations. I’ve worked with a team of like-minded people, and we’ve grown into a successful brand together. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished, and I need your love and support.
I wholeheartedly believe that everything is possible if you don’t give up quickly. A big thank you to all who’ve helped me throughout.
